About Chapin Logistics

placement pictureBack in 1926 Mr. A.T. Watson owned one truck and went to work for a gentleman named Walter Chapin in Wellington, Ohio. In 1936 Chapin Trucking was incorporated and by 1938 Mr. A.T. Watson had assumed ownership and operation of the company. It was at this point the company was moved from Wellington to North Ridgeville, Ohio, where it is located to this day.

Mr. A.T. Watson passed away unexpectedly in 1941. Mr. Watson’s widow Babe Watson then assumed the company’s ownership and operation. Mrs. Watson was at the helm until 1948 when she passed the company on to her son Archie Watson. Archie ran the company for a whopping 48 years!

Watson who, after operation under names such as T & T Trucking and T & T Chapin Trucking, formally renamed the company to Chapin Logistics. In 1996, Chapin’s Columbus, Ohio terminal was born and in 2003 a terminal in Norwalk, Ohio was added.

Timothy J. Watson lead the company until the end of 2004, when a sudden illness that ultimately led to his passing in 2005 made it impossible for him to continue as company president. At this point, Mr. Watson passed the company’s ownership and operation to his sons Timothy J. Watson II and Jason Watson, with Timothy II directly taking on the day-to-day responsibilities of running the company.
